About
As a non-profit organization, we sponsor library programs, host
community programs, raise awareness of the library and it's resources, and
stimulate gifts.
Mission
The Friends’ mission is to act as a bridge between the libraries (i.e., all the branches of DCL) and the communities they serve by:
a) increasing public awareness of, focusing attention on, and expanding the use of the branch Libraries as free and vital resources for an informed community.
b) helping the branch Libraries to initiate, organize, promote, and encourage cultural and educational activities for lifelong learning.
c) encouraging gifts and endowments as well as raising funds to support branch Libraries and The Friends’ activities.
d) working / communicating with the Libraries’ Board of Trustees, Executive Director, and Branch Managers in a spirit of cooperation as we advocate for Libraries.
e) forging connections with our members, volunteers, and others locally and statewide.
f) completing and maintaining all items necessary for The Friends' nonprofit 501 (c) (3) status.
